3-4 Foot Celeste Fig Tree $44.99 plus $25 shipping
Brown/violet outside, light red inside; midseason; a classic Southern fig; sweet like candy
The Celeste Fig is a relatively cold hardy fig tree and thrives in zones 7-11. The tree prefers full sunlight and has a good tolerance for drought conditions. Mature Celeste Fig trees grow to between five and ten feet in height and between five and ten feet in width. The tree produces the long and broad leaves that distinguish fig trees, and on the Celeste Fig these leaves can grow to be over one foot in length.
The figs from the Celeste Fig are absolutely gorgeous, with deep purple skin that shows just a brush of bronze, as well as warm amber-red flesh. The Celeste Fig is commonly referred to as the "sugar fig" for its exceptional sweetness, and the crunchy seeds add great texture to the fig's unbeatable flavor. This fruit is so tasty that you will definitely want to eat most of your Celeste Fig crop fresh, but since this tree is such a heavy producer you should be able to eat your fill while still having extras to preserve for year-long enjoyment.
These figs are not only delicious, but also super healthy. Figs are low calorie, high in fiber and full of other nutrients, including vitamin B6, potassium, manganese and copper. A high-fiber diet can help with weight management, and a diet high in fruit fiber in particular has been linked to a reduced risk of breast cancer. The nutrient content of figs is so high that it is often considered to be one of the healthiest foods in the world.
Fruit production is seriously effected by the care that the tree receives and also the climate that the tree resides in. With proper care, any of our trees will thrive and produce fruit for many years.
