Known as the “Sweet” kumquat. Meiwa kumquat’s differ greatly from the Nagami (sour) kumquat variety, the fruit are larger and sweeter and have a more tender rind. It is the most preferred fresh-eating kumquat. Bit size fruit are meant to be eaten whole for a spicy sweet-tart taste sensation. Kids love them. Compact small growing trees are ideal for container plantings or short hedges. Fruit ripens October-December. Self fertile. Zones 8A-10.
